Why the misconception that this is a Christian Nation?

All one has to do is look at a map of D.C. and the inverted 5 point start is apparent. Seriously folks, I am not saying our nation was founded by satanists but I don't think they were building a Christian nation. Just look at the dollar. "Novus Ordo Seclorum". New Secular Order. Secular folks. Free of religion.

Why the misconception that this is a Christian Nation?
Then why is 85% of this country Christian
Reply:That doesn't mean free of religion, it means the government is NOT one based on religion.





Every person in this country has the right to practice whichever religion they choose, like it or not.





The problem is not religion, its the peoples ignorance to how our government is supposed to function. The Federal government has no business in 90% of the issues they meddle in.

Reply:Explain all the references to God in the Constitution and early U.S. documents if the founding fathers weren't Christian.

There is a reference to the almighty in the Declaration of Independence, but Thomas Jefferson was no christian. He was a deist.
Reply:Being Religious and Being Christian are not the same thing. The founding fathers were very christian men and our founding documents reflect their beliefs throughout. "all men were created equal". The key word there being "created". Thats just a start and it goes on and on from there. Free from secular order means that no religious institution will rule over this country. Religion could have easily at that time referred to Muslims as well as Christians and Hindu and so on. Yes everything in our founding documents is based on the fundamental belief of Christ.
Reply:Sorry. You're the one with the misconception. You're an example of the "a little knowledge is a dangerous thing) dictum. If you look at many other features the founders set-up, you will see a fairly clear Christian bent, but without the "old country" attitudes of state-sanctioned religion.
