Scale question - HELP?

The map of a town has a scale of 1 : 100000.





a) What is the actual distance in KM between the 2 houses which has a map distance of 20cm?





b) What is the map distance between the 2 shopping centres which are 2000 m apart from each other?





c) If the map area of a farm is 10cm2, what's the actual area in km2?

The actual distance between the houses is (20 cm) * (100,000). This will give you a value in cm, which you can subsequently convert into km.
